Interclub Program Description

The Gymnastics BC Interclub program is for beginner to advanced recreational athletes in B.C. It extends performance and training opportunities as gymnasts showcase their personal ability, participate in gymnastics events and perform routines in a creative way.

Interclub is performance based and focuses on the opportunity to perform and take pride in athletic achievement. Athletes and coaches have creative license in routine development and performances.

The two Interclub categories are Performance and Performance Plus. In Performance, athletes perform routines which are given positive feedback. In Performance Plus, athletes perform routines and receive scores that coincide with gold, silver or bronze ribbons on each event.

The Junior Interclub team is our developmental group for younger gymnasts age 7-9. Gymnasts will learn routines on all four events and attend 3 local competitions throughout the year to introduce them to performing in a meet type setting. Gymnasts from this group can progress to our Junior Olympic team or our Interclub team.

High School Program Description

Students in grades 8-12 may participate in high school artistic gymnastics. The program has a variety of levels that allow participation by athletes whose abilities range from beginner to elite.

Its purpose is to allow students the opportunity to develop their skills in artistic gymnastics and represent their school at local competitions.

Under the BC School Sports calendar, artistic gymnastics is classified as a winter Sport with the season typically running from the beginning of January until the end of High School Provincial Championships which are held at the beginning of March.

Students who are interested in competing for their school and who are already Gymnastics BC athletes may continue their regular training schedule. They must approach their school’s athletic director in order to be registered as a BC School Sport athlete and compete at a local qualifying meet in order to attend High School Provincial Championships.

Students who are not already training at a club facility may want to inquire about high school or teen programs at their local Gymnastics BC member club or other gymnastics facility. They can also approach their school’s athletic director to either join a team that is already in existence or to start a new team.

Fee Payment

Each member must pay registration fee of $57.00 at time of registration in order to participate in any of our gymnastics programs. This is a requirement as set out by Gymnastics BC and the Board of Directors. This fee includes a GBC, Zone and Gymnastics Canada fee. This is an annual membership commencing September 2015 to August 2016 and is nonrefundable.

Competitions & Attendance

Each Interclub and High School Competitive gymnast must attend a minimum of 3 competitions for the year, unless an injury is sustained. All Interclub and High School Competitive gymnasts agree to attend a minimum of 6 hours/wk. All gymnasts attending any competitions must be in attendance a minimum of no less than 2/3 of their scheduled classes. The attendance of each gymnast will be closely monitored by the TGS Coaches & Office Administrator. Failing to meet this criteria will result in the gymnast not attending this competition & forfeiting their registration fee.
